  • A little bit about the role...

  • We are recruiting for Section Leader to join our early shift (6am - 3pm), your role will be split between working on the production line and managing a team of multi-skilled operatives and KPIs in your designated section to support the wider manufacturing delivery programme

    We manufacture and assemble a range of products from vanity units, to steel frame Building Panels. These products are supplied to the construction industry. Our workstations will involve various duties from window installation, assembly of components through to finishing aisles.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

     

    • 1. Production & Efficiency 

      • On-Time Delivery: Drive the team to consistently achieve cycle-time adherence, ensuring all products are built and assembled to meet time-critical deadlines. 

      • Equipment & Tooling: Proactively manage the maintenance, certification, and repair of all section instruments and tools to ensure maximum availability and operational readiness. 

      • Problem-Solving: Support with alleviating bottlenecks and day-to-day production issues as they occur. Providing staff with clear guidance on how to resolve issues in an efficient time-frame.  

       

      2. People & Team Leadership 

      • Team Engagement & Development: Foster a positive and engaged team environment. Conduct regular performance reviews and create development plans for all direct reports. 

      • Skill & Competency Management: Develop and maintain a flexible, multi-skilled team by identifying skill gaps and executing a cross-training plan to increase operational resilience. 

      • Effective Communication: Ensure critical information (e.g., targets, performance feedback, company updates) is clearly communicated to the team through daily SQCDP briefings and regular team briefings.  

      • Seamless Operations: Act as the central communication point for the section, liaising effectively with all other departments (e.g., Warehouse, Quality, Engineering) to ensure the smooth, uninterrupted running of the shift. 

       

      3. Quality Assurance & Control 

      • Right-First-Time Production: Work with the team to achieve and maintain a section Right-First-Time (RFT) rate of 95%, actively reducing product defects and rework. 

      • Zero-Defect Mindset: Ensure no product leaves the section for dispatch without passing all required quality checks, actively working to identify and eliminate root causes of defects. 

       

      4. Safe System of Work 

      • Competence & Adherence: Ensure all team members are fully trained on and adhere to all Risk Assessments (RAMS) and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs). 

      • Proactive Incident Reporting: Accurate reporting of all accidents, incidents, and near misses. Lead initial investigations to support the Health and Safety team identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 

      • Safety Culture & Continuous Improvement: Actively foster a 'safety-first' culture by leading weekly safety walks and championing employee-led health & safety improvements with a target of zero Lost Time Incidents (LTIs). 

      • Workplace Excellence (5S): Maintain exemplary standards of cleanliness and organisation across all production and work areas, implementing 5S principles to improve efficiency and safety.
